Doom, doom! We delve deeper and deeper into Moria after Gandalf and Gimli piece their way through a tattered historical text. We focus in particular on Gandalf’s humanity as he squares off with a foe that may be his match.
As the Fellowship suddenly finds itself safely in daylight again, but without its leader, our lectio section deals with the shocking dissonance we face when we encounter a calm for the first time after tragedy or trauma—the cruelty of normalcy.
RANDOM-ASS THEME: Brunch
It’s actually curious that Gandalf received the ring from Círdan when he arrived in Middle-Earth, isn’t it? At the time Saruman was still the head of the order, and no traitor yet, however, Elrond, Galadriel, Gandalf and Círdan kept this secret from him. Do you think Saruman knew who had the other two Elven rings?
Again, a very inspiring lectio divina session… my call to action is to give others and myself time to heal, to embrace this as a process that has its own pace and cannot be rushed.
